An Alternative to Screen Mirroring for PDFs and Slides

When the room needs the document, you may not need to mirror the desktop.

Your PDF fills the TV or projector. Your other tabs stay on your own device. If the room needs a proposal, slides or selected photos, a browser document display is an alternative to mirroring your entire screen.

V U This uses one browser as the display and another device as the controller. You open its display page on the room's screen, connect with its code and choose the supported content to show. It is a different workflow from reproducing every change on your desktop.

Choose by what the audience needs to see

What you need in the roomA useful starting point
A proposal, agenda, worksheet or PDF slidesBrowser document display with page controls
A selected collection of photographsBrowser photo display or slideshow
A live demonstration across desktop appsScreen mirroring or a direct display connection
A deck that depends on animations or embedded mediaPresentation software with a suitable display connection
A short welcome message or visible activity timerA dedicated text or timer display

The useful distinction is the content. A PDF is already a finished document. You can send its pages to the room while keeping your laptop available as the controller. A live software demonstration needs the audience to see the changing interface, so a desktop-display workflow may fit better.

How browser PDF display works

  1. Open vuthis.com in the TV browser or on the computer already connected to the projector.
  2. Connect from your phone or laptop using the display code.
  3. Choose Document, select the PDF and choose Show now.
  4. Turn pages from the controller with Previous and Next.

The controlling device does not need an HDMI cable to the room's screen. There must still be a browser route on the display: a TV's usable browser, or the browser on an existing connected computer/player.

What changes when you use a PDF

Export PowerPoint, Keynote or Google Slides to PDF first. Check the exported pages before presenting. This retains the page-based presentation workflow but does not reproduce live animations or the behaviour of the original presentation application.

For a static proposal or training handout, that can be exactly what the room needs. For a product demonstration that depends on moving between applications, use an approach that displays those applications directly.

Networks and the room computer

The V U This display and controller both need internet access. They can use different networks, such as a room PC on its office connection and a presenting phone on mobile data. Shared Wi-Fi pairing is not required for the code-based connection.

If a projector is already connected to the room computer, open the display page there. You can then control the chosen document from your MacBook, Surface, Windows laptop or phone without moving the existing projector cable.

Try the smallest useful test

Choose one PDF page, open the display browser and connect. Check its text from the back of the room, turn a page and decide whether that covers your presentation. Follow the PDF on TV/projector walkthrough, or use the PowerPoint PDF-export guide.
